U.S. Representative Terri Sewell (AL-07) visited Aliceville on Tuesday, October 20, to present city officials with $1 million in federal funding for the construction of a new public safety facility.
The proposed building will house both the Aliceville Police Department and the Aliceville Volunteer Fire Department, bringing the city’s emergency services together under one roof.
Currently, the two departments operate from separate buildings located several blocks apart. The new facility is expected to improve coordination between first responders, provide updated workspaces and help reduce emergency response times.
The funding announcement took place at Aliceville City Hall, where Sewell joined local officials to discuss the project’s importance to the community.
Aliceville Mayor Terrance Windham hopes construction on the new facility will begin in spring 2027.
The $1 million investment is part of approximately $9.5 million in federal funding Sewell secured for community projects throughout Alabama’s 7th Congressional District.
The project represents a significant investment in Aliceville’s public safety infrastructure and will provide local police officers and firefighters with a shared facility to better serve residents.
