As summer temperatures begin to rise across West Alabama, Temporary Emergency Services (TES) of West Alabama is stepping up to help local families stay safe and cool through its upcoming community fan drive.
The organization is encouraging residents to donate new or gently used electric fans to support households struggling with extreme heat during the summer months. Fans collected during the drive will be distributed to individuals and families in need throughout the region.
The drop-off event is scheduled for June 2 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the TES office located at 1705 15th Street in Tuscaloosa.
Organizers say the effort is designed to provide relief for vulnerable residents, including senior citizens, low-income families, and individuals without reliable air conditioning during dangerous heat conditions.
“Access to cooling during the summer can make a major difference for families facing financial hardship,” organizers shared. “A simple fan donation can help someone stay safe and comfortable during extreme temperatures.”
Community members are invited to contribute box fans, pedestal fans, or tabletop fans in good working condition. Monetary donations may also help support additional heat-relief assistance efforts.
The fan drive is being promoted in partnership with local media outlet WVUA 23 News, helping raise awareness across the community.
