Shelton State Community College will host two sessions of its Gourmet Greenhouse STEM Camp this summer at the C.A. Fredd Campus Kitchen Lab, offering local students a unique opportunity to explore culinary arts through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
The free one-day camps are designed to provide hands-on learning experiences that blend cooking, food science, and innovation in an engaging environment for students ages 9–18.
The first session, open to students ages 9–12, will take place on June 22 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The second session, designed for ages 13–18, will be held on June 29 during the same hours.
Participants will engage in interactive culinary activities while learning how STEM concepts connect to food preparation, agriculture, sustainability, and kitchen technology. Organizers say the camp encourages creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills through practical experiences.
Participation is free, but advance registration is required due to limited space.
