Community members are invited to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Gainesville Volunteer Fire Department station later this month in Sumter County.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 10 a.m. and will celebrate the department’s continued commitment to serving and protecting the Gainesville community.
Local leaders expected to participate in the ceremony include Fire Chief Ron Hutchins, Assistant Fire Chief Clarence Bell, and Gainesville Mayor Gerald Holloway.
The new fire station, located on 9th Street in Gainesville, marks a major investment in public safety and emergency response efforts for the area. Officials say the upgraded facility will help strengthen the department’s ability to respond quickly and efficiently to emergencies while supporting volunteer firefighters who serve the community.
Residents, supporters, and neighboring departments are encouraged to attend the celebration as the department officially opens its new facility.
The Gainesville Volunteer Fire Department has long served the community through volunteer-driven emergency response and public safety services.
