Residents across the City of York are being encouraged to come together in reflection and unity during the upcoming National Day of Prayer – Citywide, scheduled for May 7, 2026.
This year’s theme, “Unity, Peace, and Hope for Our Community,” focuses on bringing people together to pray for the city’s future, its leaders, families, and the overall well-being of the community.
Organizers say the purpose of the event is simple but meaningful: to invite the entire city to pause, reflect, and take part in a shared moment of prayer.
As part of the observance, a designated “Pause to Pray Hour” will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. During this time, residents, local businesses, and schools are encouraged to stop briefly and participate in prayer wherever they are.
Later in the day, the community is invited to gather in person for a time of fellowship and encouragement. A Community Gathering will be held at the Inspire Community Center from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., where attendees can connect with others and reflect together. Refreshments will be provided.
Event organizers emphasize that the day is about strengthening community bonds and creating space for hope and encouragement across York.
“Prayer is the key, and faith unlocks the door,” the event message reads—capturing the spirit behind the citywide initiative.
Residents of all backgrounds are welcome to participate.
