Community members in Tuscaloosa are invited to take part in an upcoming public forum hosted by the C.A. Fredd Jr. Career & Tech Academy, as the proposed school continues its push toward charter approval.
The forum is scheduled for Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 5:30 p.m., and will be held at 2627 10th Avenue in Tuscaloosa. Organizers say the event is designed to inform the public, gather feedback, and build community support for the academy’s vision.
The meeting will highlight The Edge Incubator and Accelerator, a key initiative aimed at preparing students for high-demand careers through hands-on, workforce-focused learning experiences.
Representatives from the Alabama Public Charter School Commission are expected to attend, observe, and engage with attendees. Their presence marks an important step in the academy’s formal charter application process.
A public forum serves as an opportunity for open dialogue between organizers and the community, allowing residents, educators, families, and stakeholders to ask questions, share feedback, and learn more about the proposed school. For charter schools, these forums are a required part of the approval process and help ensure transparency while aligning the school’s mission with community needs.
Organizers say strong turnout at the event will help demonstrate local interest in a tuition-free, career-focused public charter high school serving grades 9 through 12. Community participation may also help strengthen the academy’s application and shape how programs are developed.
Attendees can expect to meet the school’s leadership team, learn about its academic and career pathways, and engage directly with both organizers and charter officials. The forum will also provide insight into how the academy plans to prepare students for workforce success through industry-aligned training and partnerships.
“This public forum is more than an informational session — it is a call to action,” a representative for the academy said. “Community voice and support are essential as we work to bring a high-quality, career and technical education option to Tuscaloosa.”
C.A. Fredd Jr. Career & Tech Academy aims to expand educational opportunities in the area by combining traditional academics with real-world career training, equipping students with skills and credentials needed for long-term success.
Community members are encouraged to attend, share their input, and take part in shaping the future of education in Tuscaloosa.
