Shelton State Community College is expanding its campus with a brand-new nursing wing designed to support the college’s growing healthcare programs. The new facility is expected to be completed in fall 2026, marking a major milestone for nursing education in West Alabama.
The expansion comes as part of a broader renovation project at Shelton State’s Martin Campus, where millions of dollars are being invested in modernizing classrooms, labs, and student spaces. According to college leadership, the new nursing wing will provide dedicated space for students enrolled in the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) and Practical Nursing programs as well as other healthcare-related training.
Health care remains one of the fastest-growing employment sectors, and demand for skilled nurses continues to rise across Alabama and the nation. The expanded facilities at Shelton State are expected to help address local workforce shortages by enabling more students to enroll and complete their clinical training close to home.
