Twenty-one University of Alabama fashion design students will showcase their original clothing collections during the 17th annual Fashion for Life runway show on Sunday, November 15, at the historic Bama Theatre in downtown Tuscaloosa.
The event will highlight the creativity and talent of graduating seniors while raising money for United Way of West Alabama.
Organized through the university’s College of Human Environmental Sciences, Fashion for Life serves as the culminating project for students enrolled in the apparel design program.
Each participating student will present a collection developed using the skills and techniques learned throughout their college experience. The collections will feature original designs that reflect each student’s individual creativity and approach to fashion.
Preparation for the runway show begins before students enter their senior year. In addition to designing their collections, students participate in planning and producing the event, gaining hands-on experience that mirrors the professional fashion industry.
Beyond showcasing emerging designers, Fashion for Life also supports a charitable cause.
All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit United Way of West Alabama, an organization that supports community programs and nonprofit agencies throughout the region.
United Way of West Alabama works with 30 partner agencies serving nine counties, including Tuscaloosa, Pickens, Greene, Hale and Sumter. These organizations provide services related to education, health, financial stability and emergency assistance.
The annual fashion show provides students with an opportunity to share their work with the public while contributing to programs that benefit residents throughout West Alabama.
