Parents and caregivers in Greene County will have an opportunity to learn practical strategies for strengthening their children’s reading skills during the upcoming “Bridges to Literacy” program.
The event will be held Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, at 5 p.m. at 307 Wilson Avenue in Eutaw. The program is designed to help families whose children may struggle with recognizing words, reading aloud, understanding what they read, spelling, building vocabulary, or remaining focused and interested in reading.
Organizers say the goal is to give parents simple techniques they can use at home to help children become more confident readers. The event’s theme, “Read Together, Grow Together,” emphasizes the important role families can play in developing strong literacy skills.
Refreshments will be served, and gift cards will be available for participants. Those interested in attending are encouraged to register in advance or RSVP by calling 205-372-2700.
The program is presented by Greene County Park and Recreation, hosted by C&J Resources Learning Academy Inc., and supported by literacy-focused community partners, including the Believe in Reading Literacy Foundation and The Daniel Foundation of Alabama.
Through Bridges to Literacy, organizers hope to provide parents with useful resources while encouraging families to make reading a regular and enjoyable part of life at home.
