Tuscaloosa welcomed a new destination for shopping, food and special events over the weekend as Jess Living Design Studio celebrated the grand opening of its new space at 375 Bear Creek Road East, Suite 11.
The studio officially opened its doors Saturday, Aug. 8, marking the culmination of three years of preparation. The six-hour grand opening invited guests to do more than simply tour the new business. Visitors were encouraged to “shop, eat and experience” a concept that brings several services under one roof.
The business is run by husband-and-wife team Jessica and Paul Beckwith, who have brought together food, design, retail and hospitality to create a multifaceted experience for the Tuscaloosa community. Their new brick-and-mortar location represents a major milestone for the couple and the vision they have spent years preparing to bring to life.
Jess Living Design Studio describes itself as a place where thoughtful design meets memorable experiences. The Tuscaloosa-based business specializes in curated events, catering and floral design, and styling, while its new location also gives customers an opportunity to shop for food, home, and lifestyle items.
The result is a space that doesn’t fit neatly into just one category.
Guests at Saturday’s opening could browse a collection of home décor, candles, pillows, plants, and gifts while getting a firsthand look at the studio’s event, catering and floral offerings. The concept combines the feel of a boutique with services designed for customers planning celebrations and other special occasions.
Food was also an important part of the opening-day experience. The menu highlighted Jess Living Design Studio’s signature smoked chicken salad along with cold pastas. Paul B’s BBQ sauces and seasonings were among the additional offerings available.
That combination of food, retail and design reflects the larger vision behind the studio: creating experiences rather than simply selling products or providing a single service.
For customers planning an event, the studio offers catering, event experiences, floral design and styling, and event packages. Its physical location gives clients a place to see the brand’s aesthetic firsthand and consult about creating an event tailored to their needs.
The grand opening also introduced the community to a business entering a new chapter after years of work behind the scenes. The black-and-gold branding used throughout the opening emphasized an upscale atmosphere, while the studio’s stated mission focuses on creating moments that are both beautiful and meaningful.
Saturday’s celebration offered a first look at what that vision means in practice. Shoppers could leave with a new piece of home décor or a gift. Guests could sample food from the catering side of the business. Those planning weddings, parties and other gatherings could explore the possibilities for floral styling and event design.
Most importantly, the opening gave Jessica and Paul Beckwith an opportunity to welcome the Tuscaloosa community into the new home of Jess Living Design Studio.
With its doors now open, the studio adds a distinctive local option for people looking for catering, event design, floral services, home décor and gifts — all centered around the idea of turning everyday details into memorable experiences.
