Aliceville High School is taking a major step toward modernizing education with the launch of a new AI-powered platform designed to simplify classroom management and improve teaching and learning.
Faculty members gathered in the school library Wednesday for training on the new Jacket Hive web application, where they learned how the platform will streamline access to instructional resources and reduce time spent on administrative tasks.
The app was developed through a partnership with Cloud Tech Academy, the technology company helping bring the district’s vision to life.
“I’m the co-founder of Cloud Tech Academy and one of the senior software engineers who helped develop the Jacket Hive web app,” said Dr. Jamila Hairston.
Aliceville High School Principal Mr. Hill said the platform was created with one goal in mind: giving teachers more time to focus on students.
“Today we are launching our Jacket Hive app. It’s the first of its kind,” Hill said. “Our goal was to make things easier for our teachers so they can spend more time teaching instead of having to look for resources in different places. We created a dashboard where everything they need to be successful in the classroom is right in front of them.”
Hill said the platform also integrates artificial intelligence to assist educators with daily classroom needs. While the initial rollout is focused on teachers, future updates will expand access to students.
“The next rollout will be for our students,” Hill said. “They’ll be able to use it for homework, monitor attendance, grades, test scores, and other important school data.”
Cloud Tech Academy Founder Dr. Cameron Harrison said the partnership with Aliceville High School will continue over the next three years as the technology evolves to meet the school’s needs.
“We’re here to help Aliceville High School with their new technology needs by building AI applications that will help teachers be more productive,” Harrison said. “They reached out to us to build a custom solution instead of a one-size-fits-all product.”
The initiative is funded through Aliceville High School’s $900,000 CHANCE Grant, which made it possible to invest in customized educational technology.
According to Harrison, the platform includes Alabama State Standards and ACAP educational standards, eliminating the need for teachers to search through hundreds of documents while planning lessons.
“Our goal is to save teachers about 20 hours of administrative work,” Harrison said. “That gives them more time to focus on helping students succeed in the classroom.”
School leaders say the CHANCE Grant will do more than fund new technology. It will help transform teaching and learning, prepare students for tomorrow’s workforce through innovative technology, provide high-quality professional development for faculty and staff, expand educational opportunities for students, and strengthen systems that prepare every student for college, career, and lifelong success.
Officials believe Jacket Hive represents the beginning of a long-term investment in educational innovation, with additional features and resources expected to be introduced for both teachers and students in the coming years.
