For many across Tuscaloosa and West Alabama, Jasmyne Baylahhh has become the trusted voice behind the area’s must-visit restaurants, hidden gems, and local businesses. Whether she’s sharing her latest food review on social media or lending her voice to the airwaves on 105.1 The Block, Baylahhh has built a platform rooted in authenticity, community, and connection.
Originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, Baylahhh graduated from Tyner Academy before making her way to Tuscaloosa to attend Stillman College. She earned her bachelor’s degree in 2013 before later receiving a master’s degree in counseling from Faulkner University in Montgomery.
Despite her Tennessee roots, Baylahhh says Stillman College helped shape the woman she is today.
“Stillman is my heart,” she said. “It taught me to be a pusher of passions and ideas.”
Her love for her alma mater extends far beyond graduation. As a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Baylahhh is also the founder of GTTY (GTTY), a platform dedicated to celebrating HBCU culture and strengthening connections among alumni. The initiative began during Stillman’s 150th anniversary celebration and continues to encourage graduates to remain engaged with their institutions. As Stillman prepares to celebrate its 150th Founders Day this November, GTTY will once again help bring alumni together to honor the college’s rich legacy.
Baylahhh’s growing media presence wasn’t something she carefully planned—it happened organically.
Her relationship with 105.1 The Block began with a simple phone call. As a listener, she called into the station to share her thoughts during an on-air discussion. Not long afterward, while looking to promote a job fair through her employer, she reached out to purchase advertising.
Instead of simply recording a commercial, the station invited her to come in and promote the event herself.
“They said people really connected and engaged with me when I called into the show,” Baylahhh recalled. “From there, we built a great partnership.”
Today, she considers the team at 105.1 The Block an extension of her family.
While many know Baylahhh for her engaging restaurant reviews, her journey into content creation also started by chance.
“When my son would spend weekends with his dad, I’d find myself out trying different restaurants,” she said. “I started recording food reviews while I was eating and posting them online. I was already blogging a little, so it just evolved naturally.”
What started as a hobby has grown into one of West Alabama’s most recognizable local platforms. Her honest reviews, engaging personality, and genuine excitement for supporting small businesses have earned her a rapidly growing social media following.
Her influence has also caught the attention of Visit Tuscaloosa, which reached out to collaborate after noticing how consistently she engaged with and supported its content.
But for Baylahhh, the food is only part of the story.
Her mission is to shine a spotlight on local entrepreneurs and small businesses, helping them gain the marketing, promotion, and visibility they deserve.
“My goal is to highlight local businesses,” she said. “I want people to know that I’m here to help them and bring visibility.”
Behind the scenes, consistency has been the key to her success. While social media often moves at a relentless pace, Baylahhh credits structure and discipline for helping her remain productive without sacrificing her well-being.
“Having structure and a schedule keeps me going,” she said. “It helps me stay consistent and avoid burnout.”
As her audience continues to grow, Baylahhh remains focused on what mattered most from the beginning: serving her community, uplifting local businesses, and creating meaningful connections throughout West Alabama.
Whether she’s recommending the next great meal, encouraging support for a hometown entrepreneur, or amplifying the spirit of Stillman College and HBCUs, Jasmyne Baylahhh is proving that influence is most powerful when it’s used to elevate others.
