Families, friends, and visitors are invited to gather along the banks of the Black Warrior River as Tuscaloosa prepares to host its annual Celebration on the River Independence Day event at the Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater on July 4.
The free community celebration, one of the city’s most anticipated summer traditions, will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the amphitheater located at 2710 Jack Warner Parkway. The event offers an evening filled with family-friendly entertainment, patriotic music, and a spectacular fireworks display.
Festivities will begin at 6 p.m. with the opening of the popular Kids’ Zone, featuring inflatables, face painting, and interactive activities for children. Throughout the evening, attendees can enjoy live entertainment from local performers, including DJ sets and appearances by groups such as Drum Nation.
At 7:55 p.m., the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra will take center stage, performing a selection of patriotic favorites and classical pieces designed to celebrate the nation’s independence.
The evening will culminate at 9 p.m. with welcoming remarks from Mayor Walt Maddox, followed by the city’s annual fireworks show over the Black Warrior River, providing a dazzling finale to the celebration.
Event organizers remind guests that the Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater enforces a clear bag policy for all attendees. Free parking will be available at the Tuscaloosa Intermodal Facility, located at 2230 7th Street, with shuttle services and pedestrian access routes provided to the venue. Accessible parking will also be available near the amphitheater’s box office.
