Students across Alabama’s Black Belt region will have the opportunity to explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics this summer through the upcoming Blackbelt Scholars STEM Camp at Stillman College.
The four-week camp is scheduled to run from June 22 through July 17, 2025, and will welcome students entering grades 7–12 from Greene, Hale, Perry, Tuscaloosa, and Sumter counties.
Organizers say the camp is designed to provide hands-on learning experiences that inspire innovation, creativity, and leadership among participating students. Activities will include robotics, engineering challenges, technology projects, creative problem-solving exercises, and collaborative team-building opportunities.
Held on the campus of Stillman College, the program aims to expose students to future career pathways in STEM-related fields while helping them build academic confidence and practical skills in a supportive environment.
Camp leaders describe the initiative as more than just a summer program, emphasizing its focus on empowering youth through education and engagement. The camp’s theme — “Exploring. Innovating. Empowering.” — reflects its mission to encourage students to think critically, work collaboratively, and prepare for future success.
Transportation will be provided for students traveling from participating counties, helping ensure broader access for families throughout the region.
The Blackbelt Scholars STEM Camp is expected to bring together students from diverse backgrounds for a summer filled with learning, discovery, and mentorship as educators and community leaders continue efforts to strengthen STEM education opportunities across Alabama’s Black Belt.
