Employers across West Alabama are being invited to take part in an upcoming hiring event focused on building the future workforce—starting with local high school students.
The IGNITE Summer Hiring Event is set for May 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Tuscaloosa Career and Technology Academy (TCTA), located at 2800 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Organized in partnership with West Alabama Works, the event aims to connect businesses with motivated students ages 14–17 who are ready to gain hands-on experience, develop skills, and explore career pathways.
Event organizers say the goal goes beyond filling temporary summer positions. Instead, the focus is on creating long-term opportunities and early workforce development by introducing students to real-world job experiences.
“This is about more than just summer help,” organizers emphasize. “These students represent the future of our workforce—future leaders who are ready to learn, grow, and contribute.”
Employers who participate will have the chance to meet face-to-face with students eager to work, while also helping shape the region’s talent pipeline. Businesses offering summer opportunities are encouraged to register in advance to secure a spot at the event.
For more information or to register, employers can use the QR code provided on the event flyer or contact West Alabama Works at (205) 391-0566.
As workforce needs continue to grow across the region, events like IGNITE are designed to strengthen connections between education and industry—creating opportunities that benefit both students and local businesses.
