Residents in the Northport area will have an opportunity to access free health services during an upcoming community event hosted by Purple Owl Care Clinic.
“Serve Saturday” is set for April 11 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Purple Owl Career Institute, located at 3610 Watermelon Road, Suite 105, Northport, Alabama. The event will provide a range of no-cost health services to the public, all delivered by students under the supervision of trained professionals.
The initiative is designed to both serve the community and give students hands-on experience in a real-world healthcare setting.
Attendees can receive several basic but important health services, including:
Blood pressure checks Blood glucose checks BMI assessments General health screenings Educational materials and patient education
In addition to screenings, the event will also offer community connections, including access to a licensed social worker and medical referrals when needed.
Organizers say the event reflects their mission of combining education with community service—helping residents stay informed about their health while preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Appointments are required for participation. Those interested can call 205-737-7337 for more information or to schedule a time.
“Serve Saturday” aims to make healthcare more accessible while fostering meaningful connections between students and the community they serve.
