Community members in Tuscaloosa are invited to roll up their sleeves and give back during an upcoming Community Garden Build Day hosted by Community Service Programs of West Alabama.
The event will take place on Saturday, March 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 2715 26th Street in Tuscaloosa, where volunteers will come together to help create a shared green space for the neighborhood.
Organizers say the event is designed to bring people together while promoting sustainability, healthy living, and community connection.
During the build day, volunteers will assist with assembling raised garden beds, planting vegetables and flowers, and helping lay the foundation for a space that will benefit local residents for seasons to come.
“This is more than just planting a garden — it’s about growing community,” organizers shared. “We want neighbors to meet each other, work together, and create something meaningful.”
The event is family-friendly, and children are encouraged to attend and participate. It offers a great opportunity for families, students, and community groups to get involved in a hands-on service project.
Participants are asked to bring gloves, water, and a willingness to help. Door prizes will also be available for volunteers throughout the event.
The initiative is supported by Community Service Programs of West Alabama in partnership with the Federation of Southern Cooperatives/LAF.
Community members interested in volunteering can register by scanning the QR code on the event flyer.
For those looking to make a difference while enjoying the outdoors, organizers say this is a perfect opportunity to dig in and give back.
