Civil rights icon and author Sarah Collins Rudolph, the sole survivor of the 1963 Birmingham Church Bombing, will be the featured guest speaker at a Black History Month event in Eutaw on Sunday, February 15, 2026.
The event will take place at Second Baptist Church, located at 217 Tuscaloosa Street, beginning at 2:00 p.m. The program will include a guest address by Rudolph, followed by a book signing.
Rudolph was just 12 years old when a Ku Klux Klan bombing ripped through the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, killing four girls and leaving her permanently injured. Her survival and lifelong commitment to sharing the truth of that tragic day have made her a powerful voice in the ongoing fight for justice, remembrance, and civil rights education.
The Eutaw appearance is part of a broader effort to commemorate Black History Month by spotlighting firsthand accounts of the Civil Rights Movement and preserving the stories of those who lived through its most pivotal moments.
Event organizers say the program is intended to educate, inspire, and encourage intergenerational dialogue about the past and its impact on the present. Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend.
The event is sponsored by United Purposes, Blackbelt Law Group, Prestige Limousine, and other community partners.
