Older adults in Sumter County will soon have an opportunity to learn practical strategies for improving memory and understanding how the brain works through a new educational program titled “Master of Memory.”
The program is a four-lesson series designed to help older adults better understand how memory functions, identify ways to strengthen memory skills, and recognize everyday factors that can impact memory health. Organizers say the sessions will provide helpful, easy-to-understand information that participants can apply in their daily lives.
The first session of the Master of Memory series will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Sumter County Extension Office. The lessons are geared toward older adults who want to stay mentally sharp and learn techniques to support cognitive wellness as they age.
The program is offered through the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, a partnership of Alabama A&M University and Auburn University, which provides research-based educational programs to communities across the state.
Residents interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP in advance by calling 205-652-9501. Organizers note that reasonable accommodations or language access services are available upon request.
