The 2025 Annual Senior Citizen Christmas Celebration was held Friday, Dec. 26, at the Aliceville Activity Center in Aliceville, continuing a nearly two-decade tradition of honoring and giving back to the city’s senior residents.
Founded in 2006 by the late Robert “Cookie Man” Wilder, the annual event was created to recognize elders for their lifelong contributions to the community. The celebration began at 9:30 a.m., with a festive lunch served at noon, and featured a full slate of activities including guest speakers, games, raffles, gift giveaways, musical selections, and praise dances.
A highlight of the program was a gospel concert by the Bolton Brothers of Hattiesburg, whose performance added a spirit-filled close to the day’s festivities.
During the celebration, the late Robert “Cookie Man” Wilder was posthumously honored with a state resolution from the Alabama Legislature, formally recognizing his outstanding contributions and selfless service to the Aliceville community. The resolution was presented by state representatives Ron Bolton and AJ McCampbell.
Organizers said the event remains a testament to Wilder’s enduring legacy and his commitment to uplifting senior citizens, ensuring they are celebrated, appreciated, and remembered each year.
