One of West Alabama’s most recognizable arts traditions is returning this month, bringing artists, live entertainment, food and thousands of visitors together for a weekend in Tuscaloosa.
The 55th annual Kentuck Festival of the Arts is scheduled for Saturday, October 17, and Sunday, October 18, at Snow Hinton Park.
Presented by the Kentuck Art Center, the annual festival has grown into a major celebration of art and creativity in West Alabama. Visitors will have an opportunity to meet artists and browse a wide variety of handmade works throughout the weekend.
The festival traditionally showcases work across numerous art forms, including pottery, painting, jewelry, woodworking, photography, sculpture, textiles and other handcrafted pieces.
But the weekend isn’t just for serious art collectors.
Families and casual visitors can enjoy live entertainment, food and opportunities to see artists at work. The festival provides a chance to discover something new while supporting working artists and the creative community.
The event also brings visitors from outside the Tuscaloosa area into West Alabama, providing additional traffic for restaurants, hotels, shops and other local businesses during the weekend.
Kentuck has been part of the area’s arts community for decades. The organization operates the Kentuck Art Center in historic downtown Northport, where it hosts exhibitions, workshops, classes and other programs throughout the year.
This year’s festival continues that tradition on a larger scale.
For West Alabama residents looking for something different to do this fall, the festival offers two days to explore art, hear music, grab something to eat and spend time outdoors.
