The Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority (PARA) is inviting local students to take aim at a new skill this fall as registration opens for its NASP Archery Academy.
The program introduces students in grades 4–12 to international-style target archery through the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP). Designed for both beginners and more experienced young archers, the academy gives students an opportunity to develop their skills in a safe, structured and encouraging environment.
Beyond learning how to shoot a bow and arrow, the program emphasizes qualities that can benefit students on and off the range. Participants can build confidence and focus while developing discipline, teamwork and goal-setting skills through positive participation in the shooting sports.
Classes will be offered during September, October and November 2026 at two PARA locations.
At the Jerry Tingle Center Archery program, classes will be held on Tuesdays at 9 a.m.
The Faucett Center Archery Range will host classes on Thursdays, with advanced archery at 9 a.m. and beginning archery at 10 a.m.
PARA says the academy welcomes students who are picking up a bow for the first time as well as those looking to improve their existing archery skills.
Adult archery and afternoon classes may also be available, with additional details provided upon request.
With registration now open, families interested in giving their students an active and skill-building experience this fall can sign up for the PARA NASP Archery Academy and discover what it takes to hit the bullseye.
