Professionals, advocates, survivors, family members, and community partners are invited to take part in the 2026 Alabama Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Summit, a free two-day virtual event focused on advancing education, collaboration, and support for individuals impacted by traumatic brain injury.
Hosted by the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services (ADRS) and TBI Centers of Alabama, in partnership with Auburn University, the summit will be held August 24–25, 2026, with live online sessions each day. ADRS serves as Alabama’s lead agency for coordinating services for individuals living with traumatic brain injuries.
The summit is designed to provide attendees with the latest information, resources, and best practices in TBI care while fostering collaboration among healthcare professionals, rehabilitation specialists, educators, caregivers, and advocates.
Day One, scheduled for August 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., will focus on Pediatric Traumatic Brain Injury, exploring the unique needs of children, youth, and their families. Sessions will cover assessment and recovery strategies, continuity of care, pediatric mental health, ethics, and community-based services.
Day Two, on August 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., will shift to General Traumatic Brain Injury, highlighting resources for adults living with TBI. Topics will include screening and identification, cognitive, behavioral, and physical effects of brain injury, mental health, substance use, rehabilitation, and ethical considerations in care.
Continuing education credits are available for Certified Rehabilitation Counselors (CRC) and social workers upon request.
