The Alabama Cooperative Extension System, through the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP), is inviting residents across Hale County and surrounding communities to participate in the “Today’s Mom” Hale County Community Baby Shower & Donation Drive, a special event dedicated to supporting expecting parents, newborns, and growing families.
The community-focused event will take place on July 10, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Hale County Extension Office, 701 Hall Street, Greensboro, Alabama. Organized as a convenient Drop & Go Drive-Thru Baby Shower, the event encourages community members to donate essential baby items that will directly benefit local families enrolled in the six-week Today’s Mom Class.
The initiative aims to provide parents with both practical resources and educational support during pregnancy and early parenthood. Donations collected during the drive will help ensure that families have access to necessities needed for a healthy start in life.
Community members are encouraged to donate new, unopened baby items, including bottles, baby wash, lotion, baby oil, washcloths, blankets, car seats, and other newborn essentials. Organizers note that gender-neutral items are preferred to better serve a variety of families.
In addition to receiving donated items, participating families will have access to educational materials and information from local community exhibitors. These resources are designed to promote healthy pregnancies, infant care, family wellness, and early childhood development.
The event is made possible through partnerships with several organizations committed to strengthening families and improving community health, including:
Community Service Programs of West Alabama Lighthouse Women’s Center Tuscaloosa Latino Coalition West Alabama Cardiac Health Program
Together, these organizations are working to provide encouragement, education, and support services that empower parents and contribute to healthier outcomes for children and families throughout Hale County.
Organizers encourage individuals, churches, civic groups, businesses, and community organizations to participate by donating baby supplies or helping spread awareness about the event.
“Every donation, regardless of size, can make a meaningful difference in the life of a local family,” organizers said. “By coming together as a community, we can help parents feel supported and ensure babies have the resources they need for a healthy beginning.”
