The Tuscaloosa Police Department is expanding its women’s self-defense program this summer after increased interest from the community prompted officials to add another session.
The free three-week course will take place June 16, 23 and 30 from 6-9 p.m. The first two classes will be held at TPD headquarters, while the final session will take place at the TPD Firing Range.
Participants will receive hands-on instruction focused on personal safety, situational awareness and practical self-defense techniques. The course will cover recognizing and reducing risk, effectively resisting a physical attack and practicing handgun safety basics.
The program is designed to help women build confidence and learn strategies that can help keep them safe in real-world situations.
Space is limited, and registration is required.
