Residents in Hale County will soon have an opportunity to learn more about responsible firearm handling and safety through an upcoming Citizens Firearms Safety Course hosted by the Hale County Sheriff’s Office.
The course is designed for adults ages 19 and older and will be led by a certified firearms instructor. Organizers say the goal is to promote safe firearm practices while giving participants hands-on knowledge in a structured and supportive environment.
The training will be offered as a two-part course. The first session will take place in a classroom setting on April 25 at 9 a.m., where attendees will learn foundational firearm safety principles. The second portion of the course will be held at a shooting range, allowing participants to apply what they’ve learned in a practical setting.
Participants are allowed to bring their personal firearms to the range portion of the course if they choose. Those who successfully complete both parts of the training will receive a certificate of completion.
According to the Hale County Sheriff’s Office, previous classes have seen strong community participation and positive feedback. Sheriff Michael Hamilton noted that earlier sessions were “an absolute blast” and expressed appreciation for the residents who took part.
The course reflects an ongoing effort to engage the community through education and safety-focused programming.
