Residents of York and surrounding communities will have an opportunity to receive free groceries later this month through a Mobile Food Pantry event scheduled for Friday, January 30, 2026.
The free food distribution will begin at 9 a.m. at York City Hall, with the vehicle lineup starting at Cherokee Park on Park Avenue. The event is sponsored by JustServe in partnership with the West Alabama Food Bank, IV Vets, and the City of York.
Organizers say the mobile pantry will serve the first 150 families, with one food box provided per family and per vehicle. Participants are required to present a valid photo ID at the time of distribution. No food deliveries will be available for this event.
The Mobile Food Pantry initiative is designed to help address food insecurity in the area by making essential groceries more accessible to families in need. City officials and community partners encourage residents to arrive early, as supplies are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
For more information about the food distribution, residents may contact La’Shun Wallace at 205-609-7193.
