The City of Aliceville will come together in the spirit of unity, service, and community engagement on Monday, January 19, 2026, for the 2nd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.
Presented by the City of Aliceville in partnership with the Black Belt Community Foundation, New Wright Missionary Baptist Church, and the Tombigbee RC&D Foundation, the annual event is designed to honor Dr. King’s legacy through action, reflection, and collective service.
This year’s theme, “Mission Possible II: Building Community, Uniting a Nation the Nonviolent Way,” emphasizes Dr. King’s philosophy of nonviolence while encouraging residents to actively contribute to strengthening their community.
The day will begin with a community parade. Lineup is scheduled for 9:30 a.m., with the parade officially starting at 10:00 a.m. Participants will gather in front of the Alton Taggart Shop before proceeding through downtown Aliceville.
Following the parade, the program will continue at Aliceville City Hall, where attendees will take part in the Day of Service program. Lunch will be provided for participants.
The featured speaker for the event is Mrs. Alesia Gill, who is expected to share an inspiring message centered on service, unity, and community responsibility.
City officials and partnering organizations invite residents of Aliceville and surrounding communities to attend and take part in this meaningful day of remembrance and service, honoring Dr. King’s enduring impact and vision for a more just and united society.
