The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning, leaving one man dead.
According to Tuscaloosa Police Capt. Marty Sellers, officers were called to the 3300 block of Willow Ridge Lane around 3:15 a.m. following reports of a shooting. Investigators determined that a physical altercation between two men escalated, leading one of them to open fire.
The victim was pronounced dead from his injuries. Sellers said the shooter later went to Tuscaloosa Police headquarters, where he spoke with investigators and claimed he acted in self-defense.
No arrests have been made at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.
